As summer is on its return we are going for the next steps of the Fossil free island.
A number of engaged citizens of Samsø are working for the development of Samsø -a future without oil, gas or coal. Since we started at the public meeting in April at the Energy Academy, several of the interest groups solar, wind, biogas, transport, energy renovation and bobles have started up.
The solar group for instance has visited the Climate, Energy and Building Minister Martin Lidegaard to discuss common PV cells. The biogas group is working on the planning of a biogas plant. One of the initiatives of the transport group is “build your own electric car”, which is the name of a course on Samsø open for all to come and build their own EV. Better conditions for cyclists is also a high prioritized theme in the group.
At the common meeting on August 27 the different groups talked about the various initiatives. The buble group, covering themes that are not to put into the other 5 groups, will start planning and preparing a big public meeting about the future of Samsø of which the fossil free island project is a part. The wind group starts looking at the replacement of the existing wind turbines of Samsø. Also the energy renovation of our houses will be in focus soon.
The groups are making a road map for the coming activities. If you are interested in the groups’ work please contact the Energy Academy e.g. write an e-mail to Michael Kristensen who is the coordinator for the fossil free island (kd.te1498471535imeda1498471535kaigr1498471535ene@k1498471535m1498471535).
