Energi Camp

The purpose of the Energy Camp:

“The Energy Camp has been implemented in the light of Samsø being Denmark’s renewable Energy Island.”The Energy Camp strengthens childrens’ awareness of energy playing a central role in everyday-life. We teach how to produce energy, how to use it and the consequences of these processes.

The Energy Camp works consciously with the fact that learning processes are complex. When it applies to teaching energy, the Energy Camp takes a number of factors into account, such as the students existing level of awareness concerning energy, their age, gender and cultural background.

The Energy Camp is outside the school environment, therefore different messages and methods are required to communicate the same information efficiently. The messages have to be served in a more entertaining form and it is important to use alternative means.
Practical info:
The Energy Camp is located at the Energy Academy in Ballen on the east side of Samsø.
The Energy Camp takes 3 hours max.
The Energy Camp is a haven from the school environment and its aim.

Content:
The Energy Camp teaches energy democracy – energy history – energy economy.
The Energy Camp educational activities deal with behavior – collectivism – good sense – sustainability.
The Energy Camp challenges the individual student on cooperation – innovation – creativity – performance.
The Energy Camp involves the individual student in global and local aspects concerning the climate.

Opening hours:
The Energy Camp is open for elementary schools and high schools on mondays – thursdays – wednesdays.
Our modules are:
Morning 9:00 to 12:00
Afternoon 13:00 to 16:00
