The dream has come closer after the European Union just has approved a large Scandinavian Biogas project. The Implement project with an overall budget on 16 million DKK is implemented in cooperation between a number of Danish, Swedish and Norwegian partners.
Description of the project from the application:
The Implement project
Boarders do not limit the environmental challenges.
Working with environmental issues is often seen as an expensive and sometimes overwhelming undertaking for many municipalities, especially the smaller ones.
Implement seeks to challenge a concrete environmental problem and turn it in to resource and through that creates growth based on biogas. The municipalities in the project has identified biogas as an area where there is a lot to gain from cooperating across boarders and sectors.
Municipalities and actors from the commercial sectors in Sweden, Denmark and Norway has expressed that the exchange of knowledge, products and professional skills within the areas of biogas are not widely shared within the KASK-region.
To address this issue, Implement’s purpose is to try tools and develop methods that will enable actors from different sectors in society to meet, exchange knowledge and experiences and cooperate towards implementing.
In Denmark there is a wish to develop new knowledge within using biogas in the transport sector and develop a sustainable transport system.
In Sweden there is wish to develop new knowledge within planning larger biogas plants, developing new supply chains and involving local citizens in the process.
In Norway biogas is emerging as a new industry and Norway wants to learn form the experience in the region.
By testing and using tools and methods which involves citizens, academia, commercial sector and municipal officials the project aims at creating a more efficient process of implementing measures that will lead the region towards a more sustainable energy use and a sustainable growth.
The project aims further to develop sustainable growth through the networking and developing of business opportunities and planning activities.
By working together, developing strategies and take mutual steps of action it is possible to make distinct changes in a way that will benefit both the involved municipalities, business and the region as a whole.
