Grass roots lay the foundations for a Green Embassy

Even though the temperature in the dome reminds you that you are at the same time both inside and outside, Thursday night in the Dome of Visions you could let yourself be warmed by the positive atmosphere at a dialogue meeting about a possible new Green Embassy in Copenhagen.

The idea behind the embassy is to create a new network for organizations working with sustainability in Denmark. But issues such as the shape, ownership, name and location of such a network were up for debate in the dome, said the Energy Academy’s director Søren Hermansen, who had convened the meeting.

Several participants offered inventive inputs at the microphone and some even had trouble leaving the microphone again, so the meeting certainly established the need to create a platform for the coordination of the work around sustainability in Denmark.

The list of participants counted, among others, representatives of organizations such as, Agenda 21, Øko-Ø Amager, ICIS, Det Økologiske Råd, Borgerlyst, Landsforeningen for Økosamfund, Københavns Kommune and Alternativet, just to mention a few.

During the evening, strategic director of NCC Martin Manthorpe gave the participants insights into the thoughts and ideas behind the dome which housed the event, and writer Tor Nørretranders rounded off the program with some thoughts on networks and points from the book “Commonities” by himself and Søren Hermansen.

Many of the participants stuck around for a long time that evening to exchange ideas and contact info over an organic beer or apple juice.
