ISLET
Innovative Support for citizen-led Local Energy Transition
Through forms of collective ownership of small-scale renewable energy projects, ISLET enhances the municipalities’ capacity to create a favourable environment for renewable energy communities. It increases the cooperation between local/regional authorities and citizens by improving public participation and engagement in citizen-led initiatives and by supporting local policy frameworks.

The project supports small islands that are looking into the possibility of producing their own energy from small-scale community owned renewable energy through a local renewable energy community.
The Samsø Energy Academy builds such capacity and provides support on demand to small islands across Europe in local processes for involving the population and creating a renewable energy community on your island.
The project learnings can become a framework and opportunity to demonstrate the willingness of small islands to learn from each other and the strong interest in community energy towards energy independence.
